Micro pump
Micropumps are devices that can control and manipulate small volumes of fluids/gases. Although any kind of small pumps on the market are usually called micro pumps, because a more accurate name is a pump that is limited to the range of millimeters and centimeters. This kind of pump has attracted special attention in the research of microfluidics. In recent years, it has been widely used in industries, household appliances, and maternal and child products. Compared with the existing micro pumps, their miniaturized overall size, potential cost and higher metering accuracy have stimulated increasing interest in this innovative pump.
Among them, micro pumps can be divided into:
1. Diaphragm micro pumps use repeated driving of the diaphragm to drive fluid. The membrane is located above the main pump valve, which is located between the inlet and outlet microvalves. When the membrane is deflected upward by some driving force, fluid is pulled into the inlet valve into the main pump valve. 2. Piezoelectric micro pumps are one of the most common types of piston reciprocating diaphragm pumps. Piezoelectric-driven micropumps rely on the electromechanical properties of piezoelectric ceramics to deform in response to an applied voltage. The piezoelectric disc attached to the membrane causes the diaphragm to deflect under the drive of the external axial electric field, thereby causing the chamber of the micropump to expand and contract.
3. The peristaltic micropump is a micropump composed of at least three microvalves in series. These three valves open and close in sequence to pull fluid from the inlet to the outlet in a process called peristalsis
Application field
Micropumps have potential industrial applications, such as the delivery of small amounts of glue during manufacturing, and biomedical applications, including portable or implantable drug delivery devices
