What is the difference between direct acting solenoid valve and indirect solenoid valve

There are obvious differences between direct acting solenoid valve and indirect solenoid valve in structure, working principle, performance characteristics and application scenarios. Here's a breakdown of the differences:
First, structural differences
Direct-acting solenoid valve: The structure is relatively simple, mainly composed of electromagnets, spool and seat components. The magnetic force generated when the electromagnet is energized directly acts on the spool, so that the sealing surface between the spool and the seat is detached or closed, thereby controlling the flow of the medium.
Indirect solenoid valve: The structure is relatively complex, in addition to the electromagnet, but also includes the guide valve and the main valve and other parts. The magnetic force generated when the electromagnet is energized first acts on the guide valve, and changes the on-off state of the main valve through the movement of the guide valve, so as to achieve the control of the medium.
Second, the difference in working principle
Direct-acting solenoid valve: The working principle is to switch the valve spool directly through the electromagnetic force. When the electromagnetic coil is energized, the electromagnetic force generated attracts the spool, so that the spool and the seat are separated, and the medium can flow; When the electromagnetic coil is powered off, the electromagnetic force disappears, the spool is reset under the action of the spring force or the medium pressure, and the valve is closed.
Indirect solenoid valve: The working principle is to drive the guide valve through the electromagnetic force, and then the guide valve controls the switching state of the main valve. When the electromagnet is energized, the magnetic force generated makes the guide valve move, and then changes the on-off state of the main valve; When the electromagnet is powered off, the guide valve is reset under the action of spring force or medium pressure, and the main valve is also closed.
Third, the difference in performance characteristics
Direct acting solenoid valve:
Fast response speed: Because the electromagnetic force directly acts on the spool, the response speed is faster.
Simple and compact structure: easy to install and maintain.
High reliability: The direct drive mode reduces the intermediate transmission link and improves the reliability of the system.
High temperature and corrosion resistance: high temperature resistant materials and special coatings are used to adapt to harsh industrial environments.
Energy saving and environmental protection: no additional energy input is required during the working process.
Indirect solenoid valve:
The response speed is relatively slow: due to the need to control the on-off state of the main valve through the guide valve, the response speed may not be as fast as the direct-acting solenoid valve.
Large pressure: due to the complex structure, it can withstand greater pressure, suitable for high pressure occasions.
Maintenance is relatively complex: Due to the complexity of the structure, more maintenance work is required.
4. Differences in applicable scenarios
Direct acting solenoid valve: suitable for high control requirements, low pressure occasions, such as general liquid media control, industrial automation control system flow control and regulation.
Indirect solenoid valve: suitable for the control of high pressure liquid media, such as steam, oil, etc. In addition, in some cases where large flow control is required, indirect solenoid valves may also be selected
