Draws sample to the sensor instead of waiting for diffusion

A diffusion sensor only responds to gas that reaches it on its own. Adding SC1402LPV lets a portable instrument pull a sample from a confined space, a duct, or a remote probe, so the reading reflects the point you actually care about rather than the air around the instrument.

0.5 L/min matches common sensor sampling rates

Electrochemical and catalytic bead sensors are typically sampled in the 200–500 mL/min range. The free-flow figure of SC1402LPV sits inside that band, leaving headroom for normal tubing losses.

Two straight ports for inline installation

INLET and OUTLET are ø2.5 ± 0.10 mm barbs on a 14.0 ± 0.2 mm pitch, moulded in line with the body. The pump can be pushed straight onto 2–2.5 mm ID tubing without an elbow, which keeps both the footprint and the pressure loss low.

3V rail, under 200 mA

At 3.0V and below 200 mA, the pump draws under 0.6 W, so it can run from two alkaline cells or a single lithium cell through a small regulator, without a boost converter.

Quiet enough for handheld instruments

Rated below 55 dB at 30 cm, with the published curve sitting around 48–50 dB. The pump will not mask an alarm buzzer held at arm's length.

30 mm body for instruments built around millimetres

ø30 mm diameter and 28.3 ± 0.5 mm length, with two ø2.5 mm mounting holes on a 13.7 mm spacing. Small enough to sit beside the sensor stack rather than in a separate enclosure.

Duty Cycle: This Is an Intermittent Sampling Pump

The rated life is stated as more than 100 hours on the engineering drawing. That is a service-life figure, not a continuous-operation rating. Treated as run time, it corresponds to roughly four days of non-stop operation, about 100 days at one hour per day, or roughly 1.6 years at ten minutes per day.

SC1402LPV is therefore intended for portable detectors, spot checks, detector-tube sampling and sample-bag filling. For fixed installations that run a pump 24 hours a day, ask us for a continuous-duty model instead - specifying this pump for round-the-clock monitoring will consume its life in days.

Values follow the SC1402LPV engineering drawing. Flow figures at intermediate vacuum levels are read from the published performance curve and should be confirmed against original test data for design release.

Design Checklist

• Add up your restriction first. Tubing length, bore, elbows, filters and chamber geometry all consume the 30 mmHg budget.
• Damp the pulsation. A diaphragm pump delivers pulsed flow. If your sensor is sensitive to flow transients, fit a small buffer volume between pump and sensor, or use a bypass bleed.
• Check media compatibility. The released medium is air. Acid gases, solvent vapours, and high humidity need a review of diaphragm and valve material before release.
• Confirm the duty cycle. Intermittent sampling only; ask about continuous-duty alternatives for fixed monitors.
• Do not assume ingress protection. No IP rating is published; house the pump where it stays dry.
• Check the label you will receive. Units may still carry the SC1220PM marking during the model transition. Both markings are the same pump.
• Plan for explosion-proof requirements separately. The pump is an electrical component; equipment intended for flammable atmospheres needs its own certification assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What flow can I expect at -20 mmHg?

Approximately 0.3 L/min, based on the published performance curve. At the rated -30 mmHg, the flow is around 0.1 L/min.

2. Can it run continuously in a fixed gas monitor?

The rated life is more than 100 hours, and the drawing does not specify continuous duty, so it suits portable and intermittent sampling. For round-the-clock fixed monitoring, ask us for a continuous-duty pump.

3. Does it deliver positive pressure as well as vacuum?

The pump is a two-port flow-through diaphragm design, so gas leaves the OUTLET port. The engineering drawing only specifies vacuum performance; contact us if you need a guaranteed positive-pressure figure.

4. Is it available in 6V or 12V?

SC1402LPV is a 3.0V pump. Other voltages in the sampling range are separate models - tell us your rail and we will point you to the right one rather than substituting.

5. What tubing fits the ports?

ø2.5 ± 0.10 mm barbs, suited to 2–2.5 mm inner-diameter flexible tubing.

6. Can it sample corrosive gases?

The released medium is air. Corrosive or solvent-laden gas requires a diaphragm and valve material review first.

7. Is it explosion-proof?

No explosion-proof certification is published for this pump. Instruments intended for flammable atmospheres require a separate certification assessment.
